To strengthen our mission, we are launching a hands-on, practical project that leverages the ESP8266 NodeMCU board to send WhatsApp messages using the Smart StudyRoom API. This initiative is specifically designed to empower engineering students across Kenya to explore the exciting world of the Internet of Things (IoT) and real-time communication technologies.

What Is the Project About?

This project teaches students how to build a functional system that sends automated WhatsApp messages based on sensor inputs using the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module. Whether it’s alerting about temperature spikes, motion detection, water levels, or intrusions students will gain valuable insight into how embedded systems and cloud APIs work together in smart technology solutions.

  • Equip students with practical IoT skills using affordable, available hardware.
  • Inspire innovation by encouraging students to modify and expand the project to suit unique needs in their local communities.

How We Are Supporting Students

  • Workshops and Training Sessions: We’ll conduct campus-based and virtual training for students to introduce them to ESP8266 programming and WhatsApp integration using Arduino IDE and our Smart StudyRoom API.
  • Affordable Kits: Through our StudyRoom TechLab, we’ll provide pre-configured ESP8266 kits bundled with sensors at student-friendly prices.
  • Step-by-Step Documentation: Students will have access to easy-to-follow guides, video tutorials, and troubleshooting support through our Smart StudyRoom app.
  • Hackathons and Competitions: We will organize nationwide innovation challenges to promote creativity, collaboration, and real-world project deployment.
